The actual meaning of the word "the child is the father of the man....." (the seventh line of the poem 'The rainbow' is......

It means that the Poet wants to say that the man is the product of his habits and behaviour developed in the childhood...

❤️Sir William Wordsworth said that the child is the father of man . By this line he wants to refer that the man has grown in the same way as he had been in the childhood. He acts in the same way or behaves in same manner as taught by others in his childhood time.
