To find :

• Present age of Asha

• Present age of Usha

Solution :

Let,

• Present age of Usha = x years
• Present age of Asha = 5x years

Their ages after 5 years :-

→ Age of Usha = x + 5 years

→ Age of Asha = 5x + 5 years

According to the question,

→ Asha's age = 3(Usha's age)

→ 5x + 5 = 3(x + 5)

→ 5x + 5 = 3x + 15

→ 5x - 3x = 15 - 5

→ 2x = 10

→ x = 10 ÷ 2

→ x = 5

→ The value of x = 5

Substituting the value of 'x' in the present age of Asha and Usha :-

→ Present age of Usha = x = 5 years

→ Present age of Asha = 5x = 5(5) = 25 years

Therefore, the present age of Usha is 5 years and Asha is 25 years.
