Answer:

Rs.5400

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the amount invested in scheme a be x

So, the amount invested in scheme b = 16000 -x

Case 1)

Principal = x

R= 10%

time = 2 years

SI =\frac{P \times R \times T}{100}

SI =\frac{x\times 10 \times 2}{100}

Case 2)

Principal =  16000 -x

R=20%

time = 2 years

SI =\frac{P \times R \times T}{100}

SI =\frac{ 16000 -x\times 20 \times 2}{100}

Since we are given that the total interest received from both schemes in 2 year is 4280

So,  \frac{x\times 10 \times 2}{100}+\frac{ 16000 -x\times 20 \times 2}{100} =4280

x=10600

So, the amount invested in scheme a is Rs.10600

So, the amount invested in scheme b is Rs.16000 - Rs.10600 =Rs.5400

Hence the sum invested in scheme b is Rs.5400
