Hello,

Asoka's connection with Buddhism is evident from Rock Edict XIII as well as Rock Edict VIII.

In Rock Edict VIII, Ashoka mentions his trip to Bodh Gaya and Boddhi tree. Since, Boddhi tree and Bodh Gaya was the location of Lord Buddha's enlightenment, it makes Ashoka's connection with Buddhism obvious.

In Rock Edict XIII, the Kalinga War is described, in which Ashoka faced tough resistance from the country state of Kalinga (Odisha). Great bloodshed occured in the battle, which filled Ashoka with remorse. He had a change of heart and embraced Buddhism and the policy of Dhammaghosha (path of religion).

Thus, Rock Edicts VIII and XIII makes Ashoka's connection with Buddhism eminent.
