Customers who buy pirated stuff are one of the main problems. If no one buys pirated stuff, the market would be reduced and eventually finished. Most people of india have this mentality of getting cheaper things. they would rather buy a cheap copy of the movie instead of going to the theatre and spending on tickets and eatables.
They also feel that watching the pirated version from Internet that will be up in 2 days after release of film is more convenient. You can pause the movie, skip the songs, rewind and forward the scenes.
What we don't understand is the hard work of the people. We don't support the creators.

Pirated stuff has one of the biggest markets in India. there are no strict laws against piracy. People who deal in pirated stuff can easily bribe the police officers. Our police is more interested in accepting the bribes.
In US, piracy is a crime and so is downloading pirated material. Customer's internet is cut off and they are blacklisted. However, buying pirated DVDs from shops are a problem as they are not easily regulated but arrests are still made when people are found with pirated possessions.
