Reading is the need of the hour

• Francis Bacon, the great essayist emphasized in his essay titled ‘On Reading’, the importance of reading. He asserted that reading helps a man to be accomplished. It has been centuries since he has passed away but the truth of reading still remains firmly grounded.

• Reading is indeed the need of the hour. After the television invasion on entertainment people were hardly finding time to read. The only time spared for reading was either while travelling or waiting .

• Thanks to the Digital deluge that spare time was also washed away. People now days can view their favourite programmes on their mobile smart phones. So reading has been slowly forced to oblivion.

• Reading however is a must. It enriches the reader’s language skills, his/her vocabulary .
• Reading helps build one’s insight. It increases the creativity of a person. It helps to transport a person to a different kingdom of knowledge.

• But alas! Today’s generation and their immediate predecessors refuse to accept the importance of reading. For them reading has reached its expiry date and therefore has to be discarded.

• If this trend continues and reading comes to a standstill the world will bear a bunch of ignorant shallow nincompoops.
