Legends are tales that, because of the tie to a historical event or location, are believable, though not necessarily believed. Legends usually involve heroic characters or fantastic places and often encompass the spiritual beliefs of the culture in which they originate.
Though most of them are proved untrue, some people seem to believe them and thus taking advantage of this, businessmen, politicians etc target on legends to attract the general public.
Legends provide an outlet for people in a number of different ways. For the person who does not believe a legend he has received, participating in the distribution of it will fulfill another need: breaking boredom and providing a social outlet. For others, believing in a particular legend is an emotional response. Legends can feed into the fears, anxieties, and biases a person may feel toward the subject matter or society in general thus providing them with emotional gratification.

History is a factfile of past events relating to ancient people, their culture, tradition, customs and the various sociopolitical aspects happening from times immemorial, which draws its roots to the social fabric of the present days society.
Whereas, legends are primarily based on myths, i.e., half truth and half lie in order to mystify the historical truth. Human nature has certain weaknesses and the most dangerous one is that the superstitious people of olden times were more or less raconteurs and took great interest and joy in mystifying past figures of historical importance. These figures may be their army generals, emperors, kings or spiritual people like prophets and apostles. Gradually, simple people forming the masses would make it their forte to mention the legendary figures with great awe and fascination.
