An industrial society is society driven by use of technology to enable mass production thus supporting large population with high capacity for division of labour.  

Industrial societies are an information society.

Industrial societies uses external energy sources as fossil fuels for increasing rate and scale of production.  

Production of food is sent to huge farms where industrial products combines as harvesters and fossil fuel dependent fertilizers.
