Answer:

both A and R are true and r is the correct explanation of assertion

Explanation:

Democracy comes from the Greek word "demos", meaning people, and "kratos" meaning power; so democracy can be thought of as a “human power”: a democratic system based on democracy.

There are so many different types of democracy in the world that sometimes it is easy to understand the concept of democracy about what it is not. Democracy, therefore, is not a democracy or a dictatorship, in which one person rules; nor is it the oligarchy, in which a small part of society rules. Understandably, democracy should not even be a "democracy" if that means the interests of the few are completely ignored. Democracy, at least in theory, is a government on behalf of all people, according to their own will.

The concept of democracy derives its moral strength - and popular attraction - from two important principles:

1. Individual independence: The idea that no one should be subject to the rules imposed by others. People should be able to control their lives (within reason).

2. Equality: The idea that everyone should have an equal opportunity to influence decisions that affect people in society.

These principles are understandable, and they help to explain why democracy is so popular. Of course we think it's good to have as much of an opportunity as anyone else to decide on general rules!

Problems arise when we look at how principles can be applied, because we need a way to decide how to deal with conflicting ideas. Because it provides an easy way, democracy is often a "majority rule"; but democracy can mean that the interests of other people are never represented. An honest way to represent everyone's interests is to make informed decisions, where the goal is to get the same points of interest.
