Assertion :Electrophilic substitution in haloarenes takes place at ortho and para position.

Reason : NO2 group at ortho position inn chloro benzene does not effect electrophilic

substitution reaction​

Answer:

Due to resonance, the electron density increase more at ortho and para position. Also, the halogen atom has –I effect and have a tendency to withdraw electrons from the benzene ring. As a result, the ring gets deactivated as compare to benzene and hence the electrophilic substitution reaction occur.
