Answer:

Human beings respire both aerobically and anaerobically.

Explanation:

Human beings respire aerobically when the main factor which affects respiration that is oxygen equals the demand.

In aerobic respiration there is complete breakdown of glucose to energy in form of Adenosine Triphosphate , carbon dioxide and water.

In humans anaerobic respiration occurs when there is an oxygen debt.

For example immediately after running we find that athletes pant.

This is a situation called oxygen debt and the body tries to take in as much oxygen as possible to get rid of the lactic acid that accumulated when the athlete was running .

Lactic acid is formed because the oxygen taken in by the body to completely oxidise glucose to energy , carbon dioxide and water is less than what the body requires.

Answer:

(a) Both the assertion and the reason are correct and the reason

is the correct explanation for the assertion

Explanation:

Humans are not truly aerobic as :

Due to the lack of oxygen in our muscle cells during  extreme exercise, anaerobic respiration occurs in the muscle cells where the muscle cells produce lactic acid and energy.(See attachment  below)

Hence we can say that since we perform anaerobic respiration sometimes thus we are not truly aerobic.

Hope it helps!

Thanks
