Assertion: If two triangles have the same perimeter, then they are congruent. Reason: If under a given correspondence, the three sides of one triangle are equal to the three sides of the other triangle, then the two triangles are congruent. (a) Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
(b) Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
(c) Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
(d) Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct

Answer:

(d)Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct

Step-by-step explanation:

if two triangles have the same perimeter they may not have equal sides so this doesn't make 2 triangles congruent

the answer is-

d) Assertion is incorrect but reason is correct

Explanation-

In assertion,

It is given that the perimeter is equal

but...it's not necessary that if the perimeter is equal then the sides will have to be equal too...so we can't say that two triangles are congruent on the basis of that

example- triangle A has sides...2,3,4 and traingle B has sides 3,3,3

we can clearly see that perimeter is equal in both the cases ( 9 units) but the sides are not equal

Hence, the assertion is incorrect

In reason,

It is given that all three sides of triangle A are equal to all three sides of triangle B

so, the triangles are congruent by SSS criteria

Therefore the answer is (d)

hope it helps......
