The following questions consist of two statements- Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Answer the
following questions selecting the appropriate option given below.
(a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation
of assertion (A).
(b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct explanation
of assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason(R) is true.

(a) Assertion: If the displacement of the body is zero, the distance covered by it also should
be zero.
Reason: Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final position of the
body whereas distance is the actual path length traversed by a body irrespective of
direction.
(b)Assertion: On adding dilute sulphuric acid to iron sulphide, a rotten egg smelled gas is
formed.
Reason: The gas produced during the reaction is Hydrogen.
(c)Assertion: Rudolf Virchow proposed cell theory.
Reason: Cell theory states that all plants and animals are composed of cells.
