  • A redox reaction is one which involves both oxidation and reduction reaction simultaneously.
  • The electrons lost in the process of oxidation of one half of the reaction is taken up by the reactant which gets reduced. Hence the number of electrons lost and gained in a balanced redox reaction are equal.
