c) assertion is true but reason is false.

What allows conduction of electricity?

  • Any substance conduct electricity by flow of charged particles or electrons.

What happens to ionic compounds in aqueous solution?

  • Ionic compounds when are dissolved in water, their ions break free from bonds and can easily move from place to place. This allows electricity to flow as the electrons act as charge carriers.
  • In the form of solid state, ionic compounds are unable to conduct electricity because ions are fixed in their position but in liquid state, ionic compounds are considered good conductors of electricity.
