It is true that wax, resin and suberin coating on the plants reduce the rate of transpiration.


Water from the plants is lost through the stomatal pores but the extra layer of wax, resin or suberin makes this process slow as the extra layer doesn't allow the water from the leaves to easily evaporate.

This type of extra coating is mostly found in plants of dry or dessert area.
