➣ Phosphorous -

Valency of phosphorous is 3, 5

Electronic configuration - (2, 8, 5)

➣ Chlorine -

Valency of chlorine is 1

Electronic configuration - (2, 8, 7)

Since its valence shell has 7 electrons, it is easier to gain one electrons rather than losing 1.

➣ Silicon -

Valency of silicon is 4

Electronic configuration - (2, 8, 4)

Since its valence shell has 4 electrons, it is easier to lose 4 electrons rather than gaining.

➣ Argon -

Valency of argon is 0

Electronic configuration - (2, 8, 8)

Since its valence shell has 0 electrons, it is already a stable atom. Therefore it need not combine with any other atom to gain stability.

Hope it helps..♪
