assuming that the earth performs uniform circular motion around the sun, find the centripetal -acceleration of the earth. speed of the earth = 3 x 10 ^ 4 * m/s distance between the earth and the sun = 1.5 x 10¹¹ m

Answer:

`v=3xx10^(4)m//s, r=1.5xx10^(11)m`

Centripetal force, `=(mv^(2))/(r)=ma`

`therefore` Centripetal acceleration of the earth,

`a=(v^(2))/(r)=((3xx10^(4)m//s)^(2))/(1.5xx10^(11)m)=(3xx3)/(1.5)xx10^(-3)m//s^(2)`

`=6xx10^(-3)m//s^(2)`

It is directed towards towards the centre of the Sun.
