Math, asked by aboysagnik, 6 months ago

At 12:00 noon, when I entered a railway reservation queue, I am the fourteenth person in the queue. The
queue increases at the rate of one person every minute and one person leaves the counter every 3 min.
There is one lady after every two men in the queue. The lunch break of 15 min commences at 12:30 PM. The
first person in the queue is a male and the person behind me is a female. The ratio of male to female gets
interchanged after the fifteenth person. At 12:02 and 12:04 females join the queue. The fourth lady takes two
tickets (i.e., 6 min).
Where will I be at 12:30 PM (i.e., my position), if the third lady decides to take two tickets?

Answer: The counter after 39+15+3=57 minutes, At 12:57 hrs.

Step-by-step explanation: As After two men, there is a lady, the first person is a male. Thus, it can be MMF or MFMMFM and so on where M stands for male and F stands for female.

∵ The lady behind me is a female, As the 15th person,

∴ It is MMFMMF as 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th are females.

As, after 15th person, the ratio gets interchanged and becomes 2 female to 1 male in a group.

∵ So at 12 : 02 and 12 : 04 females join the group.

The 16th person is female

As after 15th person, the sequence is as F M F | F M F

As 14th queue shall arrive after 13 people.

Noe, 13 people take 13×3=39 min

So lunch shall take 15 Min

The fourth lady took 6 minutes instead of 3 more minutes.

So the counter after 39+15+3=57 minutes, At 12:57 hrs.
