Answer:

at 3o clock ,

2/5=6/15

at 5o clock

2/3=10/15

so 4/15 per hour,

then started at 3 - 1.5 = 1 : 30

ended 5 + 1.5 = 6 : 30

Answer:

STARTING TIME = 3 PM - 3 hrs = 12 NOON

ARRIVAL TIME = 5 PM + 2.5 = 7.5 = 7.30 PM

Step-by-step explanation:

LET ‘S’ BE THE THE TOTAL JOURNEY DISTANCE

AT 3 PM DISTANCE COVERED = (2/5)*S

AT 5 PM DISTANCE COVERED = (2/3)*S

DISTANCE COVERED IN 2 hrs TIME = S*(2/3 - 2/5) = (4/15)*S

SPEED OF THE JOURNEY = (4/15)*S/2 = (4/30)*S = (2/15)*S

TIME TAKEN TO COVER INITIAL (2/5)*S = (2/5)*S/(2/15)*S = 3 hrs

TIME TAKEN TO COVER BALANCE (1/3)*S = (1/3)*S/(2/15)*S = 2.5 hrs

STARTING TIME = 3 PM - 3 hrs = 12 NOON

ARRIVAL TIME = 5 PM + 2.5 = 7.5 = 7.30 PM
