at 323 k the vapour pressure(in mm hg) of a methanol ethanol solution represented as p=120x+140 .Where x is the mole fraction of methanol in liquid at equilibrium . The value of partial pressure of ethanol is?

Answer:

So to find out the partial pressures of each, we have to assume.

firstly P° of ethanol can be found when mole fraction of methanol is presumed = 0

hence p= 120*0+ 140= 140 mm = ANS

to find P° of methanol , put x = 1.

hope this helps
