we know that,

  • whenever (-1) is multiplied by a number, it results in the opposite.
  • The temperature is decreasing, that means the final answer would be negative.

given that,

  • Each hour temperature changes by 7.
  • The temperature keeps on changing for 3 hours.

So,

  • In 1st hour temperature decreased by = 7° => as decreasing we use = (-7°)
  • in 2nd hour temperature decreased by = (-7°)
  • in 3rd hour temperature decreased by = (-7°)

Therefore,

→ Total change in the temperature in three hours = (-7) + (-7) + (-7) = { (-1 * 7) + (-1 * 7) + (-1 * 7) } = (-1)(7 + 7 + 7) = (Negative 1) (7 + 7 + 7) (Option C) .
