At a particular time the shadow of a pole and a building are 1.7m and 7.3m respectively. If the height of the building is 29.2m find the height of pole?

We are quite sure that the angle between the shadow and the object will be the same for both the cases since it's happening at the same time.

Let us assume it to be 90 degree.

Then in case of the building tanθ = perpendicular/base = 29.2/7.3 = 4.

or, it will be the same for that in case of the pole.

Therefore, 4 = (height of the pole / length of the shadow)

or, height of the pole = 4 x 1.7 = 6.8m (Ans)
