% of votes gained by winning candidate= 84%
% of votes gained by loosing Candidate= 16%

We know the Candidate won by 476 margin,

Let the total votes be 'x'

hence,

25% of x= 476

(25/100)*x = 476
x= 476*4 = 1904

Hope this helps.
