The percentage of oxygen is the same at sea level as it is at high altitudes, which is roughly 21 percent. However, because air molecules at high altitudes are more dispersed, each breath delivers less oxygen to the body

Answer:

The air becomes rare and also the oxygen per liter in the air gets decreases at the higher altitudes. Raising the temperature of the body, the number of red blood cells and the rate of breathing compensate decreases for doing the normal biological function of the body but the concentration of haemoglobin does not help.
