the auditory nerve connects the inner ear to the Brain the inner ear has a structure resembling the shell of a snail which is called the cochlea. the cochlea receives the vibrations coming from the membrane and converts them into electrical signals which are sent to the Brain through the nerve. the brain analyses these signals.

The cochlea is a small but fundamental part of the ear and is responsible for the transduction of sound.

Explanation:

  • The ear is a very complex structure and is composed of the 'outer ear, 'middle ear' and the inner ear.
  • The cochlea is a unique hollow spiral bone that is fundamental for hearing sounds and actively participates in the transduction of the auditory waves.
  • It effectively transforms the liquids in the cochlea and transfers it to neural signals. Permanent loss of hearing occurs when the cochlea is damaged.
