R = R1 + R2 + R3 = 30Ω

I = V/R = 30 / 30 = 1A

V across 10Ω = IR2 = 1 × 10 = 10 V

Solution:-

To find :

Current in the circuit.

The potential drop across the 50 resistors.

Given that,

There are three resistors of 5, 10 Q and 15 Q. Potential drop across the 10 resistors is 4 V.

We know, that the same current flows through all the resistors in a series circuit.

Solve by the Ohms law,

V = IR

V = voltage

I = current

R = resistance

Current flowing through 10 resistor:

=> 14 V/10 Q

=> 1 = 2/5

=> 1 = 0.4 A

∴ Hence Current in the circuit is 0.4 A.

Now,

Potential drop across the 5 resistor:

=> V = 0.4 A × 50

=> V=2V

∴ Hence the potential drop across 5 resistors is 2V
