The ratio of Thenmozhi's age to Murali's age was 3:2, so here the eq. becomes,

$\frac{x-5}{y-5}$ = $\frac{3}{2}$

Substituting the value of x from (i),

⇒ $\frac{y+5-5}{y-5}$ = $\frac{3}{2}$  

⇒ $\frac{y}{y-5}$ = $\frac{3}{2}$  

⇒ 2y = 3y – 15
