Answer:

the rate of interest is 12%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, Simple interest  , Amount is \frac{8}{5}th of its principal in 5 years

Let the principal , p  be  x

given time, n = 5 yrs.

Now ,

Amount, A = \frac{8}{5}*x = \frac{8x}{5}

We know that

I = A - p

I = ( \frac{8x}{5} - x )  =  \frac{8x-5x}{5}  =  \frac{3x}{5}

also,  I = \frac{pnr}{100}

=> \frac{3x}{5} = \frac{x*5*r}{100}

=> 3x*100 = 5rx*5

=> 300x = 25rx

=> 25r = 300

=> r = 300/25 = 12

ie., the rate of interest is 12%
