Given,

At sunrise, the outside temperature was 1 degree below Zero.

By lunchtime the temperature rose by 15 degrees and then fell by 3 degrees at night.

To find,

The temperature at the end of the day.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

Now, according to the question;

The outside temperature at sunrise

= was 1 degree below Zero

= (0-1)° = (-1)°

Now, according to the question;

The outside temperature by lunchtime

= (the outside temperature at sunrise) + 15°

= (-1)° + 15° = 14°

And, according to the question;

The outside temperature at night

= the temperature at the end of the day

{Since any day ends during the night time}

= (the outside temperature at sunrise) - 3°

= 14° - 3°

= 11°

Hence, the temperature at the end of the day is 11°.
