Zitkala Sa felt uncomfortable in the dining room because it was her first time to have her meal while sitting on the dining table. She was not aware of the certain table habits which one needs to follow while eating on the dinning table. While the other pupils remain standing after pulling the chair, she sat on it. They were meant to sit on the chairs on the second bell. On the third bell, they were supposed to start eating. Zitkala finds these activities very confusing and in anxiety, she started to cry.
