Yes, she showed confidence to take independent decisions as she had refused to marry Bishambernath. Actually she was respected her parents due to which she agreed to marry him although she did not wanted to do so. But when she saw that Bishambernath was disgracing her father then just for the respect of her father, she refused to marry him. The teacher made her courageous enough so that she can stand for herself even when everyone was against her.
