at the melting point of solid even though heat is supplied but temperature does not rise till all the solid has changed into liquid.why?

it is because when a solid melts , some amount of energy is required to to change its state, namely latent heat of fusion . thus all the heat supplied is used to bring about state change and thus temperature does not change
