At the night club, the plain clothes detective noticed a dark-haired man's standing alone in the corner

A) Man's standing
B) Man being standing
C) Man to stand
D) Man to be standing
E) Man standing

I chose the option E, but on proprofs.com the correct answer is A

This is the feedback given....
noticed the dark-haired man, not specifically "his standing."

I really don't understand why option E is wrong. :(

Yeap, I think so! "E" is correct.
