 hi friend,
Sex is determined by maternal and paternal DNA in humans. Both are responsible to reproduce the progeny. Human female have XX chromosome in the sex cell and the Human male have XY chromosome in the germ cells. And actually Somatic cells have no use in reproduction and also germ cells have half the no. of chromosomes so that the progeny have 1/2 + 1/2 full no. of chromosomes . And father have  XY chromosomes. when father X chromosome fuse with mother x .the baby will born as a girl .And if the Y chromosome of father fuses with mother's x chromosome .the baby will born as a baby child . i.e mother only give X chromosome .It is the father who determine the baby born as girl or boy.
