In ‘The Thief’s story’ by Ruskin Bond, the narrator, Hari Singh states that he is successful and has little experience. Hari Singh is actually a thief and he seems to be proud that he is quite adept and successful at robbing and cheating people.  

He meets Anil at a wrestling match and starts being friendly with him and asks him for a job. Anil says that he’s a writer and can’t pay much, but if Hari could cook, he can work for him.  

The narrator agrees as he has decided to cheat Anil. But Hari has a change of mind as Anil starts to educate Hari Singh.
