QUESTION :-

At what rate per annum will 6360 Rs yield an interest of 1378 Rs in 2½ years ?

SOLUTION :-

Principle (P) = 6360 Rs

Time (T) = 2½ years = 5/2 years

Simple interest (SI) = 1378 Rs

Substituting in I = P × R/100 × T

1378 = 6360 × R/100 × 5/2

1378 × 100 × 2 = 6360 × 5 × R

Therefore,

R = 1378 × 100 × 2 / 6360 × 5

R = 25/3

R = 8⅔ ℅

Given,

Principle = 6360/-

T = 2 and half years

SI = 1378

i =  \frac{p \times r}{100  \times t}

1378 =  \frac{6360 \times r}{100 \times  \frac{5}{2} }

1378 \times 100 \times 2 = 6360 \times 5 \times r

r =  \frac{1378 \times 100 \times 2}{6360 \times 5}

r = 8 \frac{2}{3\%}
