Solution: h = 40cm = 0.4m − head mercury column; Velocity head = 40cm of Hg column hw = h ∙ 13.6 cm of water column. hw = v 2 2g v 2 = 2ghw v = √2ghw = √2 ∙ 9.8 m s 2 ∙ 0.4m ∙ 13.6 = 10.3 m s

Answer: velocity head of wateer is 10.3m/s
