The molecular weight of Water : \large\rm { H_{2} O = 2(1) + 16 = 18 \ g/mol }

The molecular weight of copper sulphate pentahydrate \large\rm { CuSO_{4} \cdot 5H_{2} O = 64+32+4(16)+5(18) = 250 \ g/mol}

The percentage of water crystallization :

\large\rm { \frac {5×18}{250} × 100 = 36 }

\large\rm { \therefore 36 \% } is the required answer.

Answer:

Blue vitriol is copper sulphate penta hydrate CuSO4⋅5H2O

The molecular weight of CuSO4⋅5H2O is:

63.5+32+4(16)+5(18)=249.5 g/mol

The percentage of water of crystallisation of a sample of blue vitrol →  \frac{5 \times 18}{250}  \times 100 = 36.07\%
