The answer depends on the definition of the word "side." I think this is a terrible question (edit: to put on a quiz) and is the kind of thing that will make children hate math. "Side" is a term that should really be reserved for polygons.
A circle has a closed boundary with no corners. It has a single circular boundary that's one curved edge.
It has however two regions, one inside and one outside.
If considered as a circular lamina, well it has two sides, just as a coin has two sides.
If considered as n-sided polygon with infinite sides, well each side is ignorably too small and they just merge into each other leaving no discernible corners at all.
