i) The element is Nitrogen atom which have 5 valence electrons in its valence shell with atomic number of 7.

ii) In order to obtain the noble gas configuration nitrogen atom shares its 3 valence electrons with another nitrogen atom. And due to sharing of three electrons by both nitrogen atoms triple bond forms between both the atoms.
