Steroids are defined as chemical compounds, having four ring structures, composed of carbon atoms. Steroids include many vitamins, hormones, and alkaloids. They are grouped under class lipid as they are also water insoluble, show properties like triglycerides, and are hydrophobic as lipids,

Although, 'steroids are not considered as true lipids as they do  not contain fatty molecules as present in other lipid molecules.'
