Answer:

total production in the months Jan-March is

1500×3ton=4500ton

total production in the months Jan,Feb,Mar,April

is( 4500+1200) ton=5700ton

average production from Jan-April is 5700/4 to

=1425 ton

The New Average is 1,425 tons.

GIVEN

Average production of the farm in months of Jan-March = 1500 tons

Production in April = 1200 tons

TO FIND

The New Average from Jan-April

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Old Average of production of farm = 1500 tons.

Number of months = 3

We know that,

Average = Sum of all observations/Number of observations.

Putting the values in the above formula we get,

1500 =  \frac{sum \: of \: all \: observation}{3}

= 4500 tons

So, the Sum of the amount of produce of the farm for the months of Jan-March = 4500 tons.

Now, the Sum of the amount of produce of the farm for the months of Jan-April (4 months) = 4500 + 1200 = 5700 tons

New average = 5700/4 = 1,425 tons.

Hence, The New Average is 1,425 tons.
