Plastic bags are non-biodegradable and extremely detrimental to the environment.
They're almost impossible to decompose. They end up in drains, streets, lakes, beaches, polluting the surroundings. Many animals feed on these plastic bags and die. They realise toxic gases and chemicals when incinerated. We can go on highlighting the dangerous effects of plastics. Yet, so many people still regularly use them.
Cotton, jute, or paper bags are environment friendly, biodegradable, and do not have any harmful effects. They are re-usable and cost effective.
As responsible denizens, we must understand how bad the repurcussions of being indifferent and undisturbed by our impact on the environment can be. At the end of the day, we all should realise little steps like these can make so much difference.
