To find : his earnings.

Saving 20 then expenditure = 17

=> Saving 1950 then expenditure =  1950 x 17/20

Given :- A man saves 1950. If the ratio of his savings to his expenditure is 20 : 17. find his earnings.

Solution :-

Let us assume that, man saves Rs.20x and expenditure is Rs.17x .

so,

→ 20x = 1950

dividing both sides by 20,

→ x = 97.5

then,

→ Man earning = His saving + His Expenditure .

→ Man earing = 20x + 17x

→ Man earning = 37x

putting value of x we get,

→ Man earing = 37 * 97.5

→ Man earing = Rs.3607.5 (Ans.)

Hence, his earning is Rs.3607.5.
