Ray of light:

  • A ray of light or light rays are the direction along with the light energy travels. In practice, a ray has a finite width and is represented in diagrams as straight line
  • The direction or path along which light energy travels in a medium is called a ray of light. It is represented by a straight line with an arrow marked on it.
  • The rays from a distant light sources are parallel to each other, they constitute a parallel beam.
  • In a convergent beam, the ray proceed toward a point. In divergent beam, the ray proceed away from the point.
  • The term ray means entities that carry energy through the space. A ray only conveys the direction of light. So the ray does not say to spread out the radiation is, it could be dispersal out in all direction.
  • The ray refers to a narrow stream of light energy. eg.. that coming through a little hole in a screen, but systematically it has a more particular , course of the path taken by light.
