(b) DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MERISTEMATIC AND PERMANENT TISSUES:

(i) meristematic tissues are simple tissues composed of a group of similar actively dividing cells that can form new cells

Permanent tissues are formed by the division of meristematic tissues

(ii) meristematic cells are either round , oval, polygonal or rectangular in shape without intercellular spaces

The cells in permanent tissues are large and of different shapes
