To find the greatest divisor,we have to find the greatest common factor or GCF of 96 and 108.

By mathematical calculations,we get that GCF of 96 and 108,is 12.

Now, 12 can divide both the 96 and 108 , without leaving any remainder. And,there are no higher number than 12 which can do the same.

Hence,the number is 12.
