Alluvial soil is the most transported soil widely found in India. Weathering of rocks is the key reason for forming this soil.

Information about Alluvial soil:

  • The physical, chemical and mineralogical properties of alluvial soils are greatly affected by the characteristics of the alluvial parent material from which they were formed, especially when the soils are young.
  • As alluvial soils develop, the other soil-forming factors have a significant impact on their properties.

Formation of alluvial soil:

  • It is common to find this soil near rivers and is carried along with the stream water during weathering of rocks.
  • It needs less water and it a soil with the highest prosperity.
