The reaction in which the NH3 or the ammonia is converted to the N2O5 or the di-nitrogen pentaoxide. The oxidation number of the nitrogen or N gets oxidized from -3 to +5 in the above reaction. For the NH3 we get that N + 3(+1)=0 which on solving we will get N = -3
